Resending an order notification to a customer

wordpress

Resend the appropriate WooCommerce order message after verifying the recipient and the reason it was missed. Use the supported order action so the customer receives the current order details without changing payment or fulfilment status merely to trigger another email.

01 Check the order and recipient

Confirm the order belongs to the requesting customer and review its billing email address. Check whether the original message was a payment request, order confirmation, completed-order notification or customer note. Different messages have different triggers and content, so choose the one the customer actually needs.

02 Send the appropriate message

  1. Open the verified order in WooCommerce.
  2. Review the Order actions menu and select the supported action for sending order details or the required notification.
  3. Check the order's current status, amount and any included payment or download links.
  4. Run the send action once and review the resulting order note or email log where available.
  5. Ask the customer to check their inbox and filtered folders using the expected sender address.

Should I change the order status twice to force an email?

No. Status changes can trigger stock adjustments, fulfilment, webhooks and other automation. Use a specific resend action or an appropriate customer note instead of manufacturing a false business event solely to send mail.

Does Send order details charge the customer again?

Sending a message is not itself a new payment. An unpaid order may include a payment link, while access to that link follows WooCommerce's customer-verification rules. Confirm the actual payment state before sending a payment request so a customer is not asked to repay an already settled order.

What if the second message also fails?

Stop repeated resends and diagnose the mail path. Check whether the email type is enabled, whether WordPress handed the message to the configured mail service, and whether that service accepted or rejected it. A successful send function does not guarantee final inbox delivery.

03 Protect order access

Do not post private order or payment links publicly. If the email address needs correcting, verify the request before changing it and record the authorised change privately. Keep a concise history of the resend and any delivery issue so another team member does not repeatedly send the same notification while troubleshooting.
