Creating a DirectAdmin reseller package

control-panels, resellers

A reseller package defines the resources and capabilities an administrator delegates to a reseller. It is a commercial allocation and permission boundary, not a reservation of physical CPU or memory. Configure it deliberately before creating production reseller accounts.

Check access and requirements

Use an authorized administrator account. Decide the permitted user count, domains, disk, bandwidth, IP allocation and feature set. Compare those allocations with actual server capacity and the services you intend the reseller to sell. Record any existing reseller settings before changing their package.

01 Create a DirectAdmin reseller package

  1. At Admin level open Account Manager and Manage Reseller Packages. Create a clearly named package or copy an existing suitable definition.
  2. Set disk and bandwidth limits, account and domain counts, and the available features. Enable SSH, dedicated IP allocation or additional administrative capabilities only where the service agreement requires them.
  3. Decide the overselling policy. Allowing larger combined customer allocations does not create more storage or bandwidth; monitor real consumption and retain operating headroom.
  4. Review suspension and notification behaviour when limits are reached. Confirm that the reseller understands the impact on customer accounts.
  5. Save the package, then assign it to a test reseller or the intended account through its modification page. Review the actual resulting limits instead of assuming every customized account inherits every future package edit.

Does unlimited mean unlimited physical capacity?

No. A panel limit setting changes accounting enforcement. Disk capacity, service resources and the hosting agreement still apply, so monitor both account totals and the host itself.

Confirm the expected result

Log in through an authorized reseller session and check the available account-creation options. Create a disposable test user within the permitted limits, verify that disallowed capabilities remain unavailable, and remove the test account when finished.

Resolve setup problems

If a package cannot be assigned, compare the reseller current usage and existing customer allocations with the proposed limits. Do not work around validation by editing account files. Restore the previous package where necessary and investigate custom limits or server-level restrictions.
