The DirectAdmin integration works with the hosting user attached to a WHMCS service. A reseller connection can act only for users that reseller legitimately manages. It does not turn a customer's hosting workspace into a reseller-wide account console.

01 Create a suitable login key
DirectAdmin supports dedicated login keys for API access. Create a key for the administrator or reseller identity used by WHMCS, restrict it to the required actions and the WHMCS server's outbound IP where practical, and keep a record of its expiry. Store the credential in the WHMCS server settings instead of pasting it into module notes or product descriptions.
Use HTTPS on the correct DirectAdmin port, normally 2222. A test from your own browser does not prove that the WHMCS server can reach this address.
02 Configure and verify
- Save the hostname, secure port, server username and login key in WHMCS > System Settings > Servers.
- Enable DirectAdmin in the suite's Hosting platforms settings.
- Open the server's Connection profile, select DirectAdmin and choose Password / DirectAdmin login key or the correct automatic detection mode.
- Check that a test service uses this server and contains the actual DirectAdmin hosting username and main domain.
- Use Existing accounts > Verify and link, then open its workspace.
- Confirm domain, mailbox, database and usage lists. Enable account changes and test one controlled operation before expanding the product's tools.
03 Plan the customer feature set
DirectAdmin provides the common domain, subdomain, alias, mailbox, database, FTP, password and resource tools. Its PHP and SSL pages provide the information supported by this adapter. Do not enable cPanel-only terminal or file-editor expectations in sales copy.
The regular hosting application integration uses DirectAdmin's WordPress installer where that server exposes it. This is separate from creating a managed application product in the suite's cPanel-based product builder. An accepted installation request still needs a website check before you tell a customer it is ready.
Why might DirectAdmin refuse an action?
If lists load but an action is refused, check the login key's permitted commands and the user's package limits. One-time sign-in also depends on the account's login-key capability. FTP quotas may not be reported or editable like cPanel's; use the values actually shown.
If the account link fails, compare WHMCS with DirectAdmin's main domain and user ownership. Changing a username, server assignment or key should be followed by a fresh verification. Keep the exact operation and service reference when escalating, without sharing the key itself.
