Create a HostBill product and assign its provisioning application

hostbill, development

A HostBill product combines a commercial offer with its order-page behaviour, billing rules and provisioning configuration. Build those parts together so the description, invoice and delivered service agree.

01 Create the product

  1. Open Settings > Products & Services and choose the relevant order page. Confirm that its order type matches the service and activated provisioning module.
  2. Use Add new product. In General, enter a clear name and description. Describe concrete limits, included management and any separately purchased options.
  3. Choose the billing model: free, one-off, regular recurring or a supported metered arrangement. Enter the actual selling prices and setup fees for the cycles you intend to offer. Review currency and tax treatment using your approved commercial configuration.
  4. For regular billing, check whether the product is prepaid, postpaid or hybrid. This affects when service charges and upgrade charges appear. Test the selected model against a dated example before launch.
  5. Open Connect with App, select the activated module and tested application connection, then complete its package or resource settings.
  6. Add only the necessary components and customer choices. Set available client functions and product automation, including the point at which a paid order may create a real resource.
  7. Keep the product out of public navigation during testing, and confirm what its visibility setting actually permits. A hidden product can remain accessible by direct cart link.

02 Verify the offer end to end

Place a controlled order and compare the cart total, invoice, account billing record and remote package. Test an option combination that changes price or resources, not just the default selection. Inspect the customer welcome message and the service's next due date.

When changing an established product, decide separately whether existing customers keep their agreed pricing. Review the affected-account preview or dry run before applying current prices to existing accounts.

Common questions

Why did changing the sales description not change a server limit?

The description is customer-facing text. Provisioned limits come from the connected module's package and resource settings, and existing services may require a supported package-change workflow.

Can a zero base price still produce a paid order?

Yes. Priced components can determine the final charge. Test required and optional selections so a zero base amount does not accidentally create a free configuration.
