Grant master-reseller access and define downstream responsibilities

domain-nexus, resellers

Master-reseller access lets an authorised account manage a restricted downstream network. It is an explicit role with its own permissions, not the default for every reseller or a consequence of buying a hosting service.

01 Define the commercial relationship

Decide who may create downstream accounts, publish TLD tiers, configure markups, manage holds and distribute branded connectors. Document who collects customer payments and who settles upstream operations. A downstream billing adjustment should not be confused with an actual registrar refund or a payment-gateway transaction.

  1. Open Domain Reseller > Master permissions and review the account that should receive the role.
  2. Grant only the required master capabilities and configure the permitted downstream relationship.
  3. Review the source TLD offer and cost basis before the master publishes its own tiers.
  4. Set and test downstream commercial limits, account states and relevant API permissions.
  5. Sign in through the permitted master workflow and confirm that only assigned downstream accounts are visible.

Can a master reseller manage every account on the platform?

Master views can expose downstream domains, orders, usage and logs within the authorised network. They do not confer unrestricted access to the provider's whole installation. Creating or managing another account requires the appropriate master permission and relationship.

Credential-management workflows can reveal a new secret only at issue or rotation and provide redacted metadata otherwise. Do not assume a master can recover every old reseller API key.

02 Publish downstream offers

Create tiers with complete TLD offer lists and review their markups against the allowed source catalogue. Assign only eligible downstream accounts. A tier's offer cannot expand beyond services the upstream relationship permits.

For connectors, use the current catalogue publication workflow with a downstream audience. Ordinary resellers cannot create a provider-wide publication. Keep branded support and documentation URLs accurate.

03 Review holds and status changes

An account hold or status change can affect pending work and future ordering. Read the required confirmation and reason, inspect existing operations and avoid deleting evidence. Restore access only after the reason for the restriction has been resolved.

Periodically review master accounts, downstream assignments and unused credentials. When a business relationship ends, revoke the appropriate access while preserving financial and operation records needed for reconciliation.
